The song topic comes from the book "Endgame" by David Strafford which Joakim got from a fan.

The band was asked to make theme song for the Hearts of Iron game, but some time later they came across the story of Walter Wenck and it took a while to actually compose the right song for the topic.

The song title was inspired by a video game series "Hearts of Iron".
